Local social worker accused of murdering policeman in honeytrap pleads not guilty at Old Bailey

A social worker has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering a policeman at his flat in Southwark Street, after the two met using the dating app Grindr.

Stefano Brizzi, 50, appeared today at the Old Bailey, accused of killing PC Gordon Semple from Dartford.

The 59-year-old cop’s dismembered remains were found in the communal bins of the housing estate where Brizzi lived, days after PC Semple disappeared on April 1.

Brizzi faces trial on Tuesday October 18 has been set the trial which is expected to last between seven and ten days.

PC Semple, originally from Inverness, Scotland, had worked in the banking industry before joining the Metropolitan Police, and was attached to Westminster Council’s anti-social behaviour unit.

Brizzi, of Block E at the Peabody Estate in Southwark Street, near London Bridge, was remanded in custody and is yet to enter a plea to a charge of murder.
