Retired printer from Peckham ‘enjoyed an active life’

A former Peckham resident who was mercilessly gunned down in the Tunisia terrorist attack last month will be laid to rest today .

John Stocker, 74, and his 63-year-old wife Janet were among thirty Britons who were killed by a single gunman at the resort of Port El Kantaoui on June 26.

The London couple, who had moved out to Morden together, will be remembered in a service to be held at Putney Vale Crematorium from 1.20pm today.

John’s five children released a statement saying the pair were “happily married” for 26 years and together for 42 years. “They were proud parents to us and will be sorely missed by Denise, Paul, Mark, Kelly and Lee Stocker, as well as their grandchildren, family and many friends,”

John, a retired printer, enjoyed an active life in retirement and was a keen photographer and gardener, while Jan was a fun-loving, doting grandmother who enjoyed her time with friends.

Since the attack which killed a total of 38 people, the British foreign office has announced they believe a further terrorist attack in the north African country is ‘highly likely’.
