Fears that rogue landlords are skiving on their duty to ensure tenants have working smoke alarms has prompted the London Fire Brigade to offer them for free.
Tenants in privately rented properties will be able to apply for free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms via the Brigade’s website.
It became law for land lords to provide alarms since October last year, and those that fail can be punished with a £5,000 fine.
