A woman from East Dulwich is running the London Marathon to raise funds for the charity that has helped her brother.
Thirty-four-year-old Fiona, from East Dulwich, is taking part in the marathon for the first time.
She is raising funds for Diabetes UK, to help find a cure, as her brother Iain and partner Hakim both have Type 1 diabetes and her auntie and grandmother have both been diagnosed with Type 2.
She said: “Signing up seemed like such a good idea when I was topping up my tan watching it at mile nineteen last year!
“I have completed the Great North Run before and thought it was time to push myself a little further and go for a full marathon.
“Training has taken over my life. I am sure my friends and family are sick of hearing about my workouts, runs and physio sessions but I have enjoyed everything about it.
“I know the late night runs in the cold and wet will all be worth it when I cross the finish line.”
