A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a seventeen-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in Camberwell yesterday.
Police say they were called to Brisbane Street to reports of a stabbing at 12.16pm on Thursday, July 12.
Paramedics and an air ambulance attended, but sadly a seventeen-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.02pm.
Although she has not been formally identified, her next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem is due to be held.
Officers say they believe the suspect and victim knew each other, and a weapon has been recovered.
The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating along with officers from Southwark.
Acting DCI Domenica Catino, from the HMCC, said: “A young woman has been fatally attacked and a 21-year-old man arrested at the scene.
“The suspect continues to be questioned by detectives and detailed enquiries including forensic analysis continues.”
