A man has been charged with making threats to kill and hoax bomb threats after an an eight-hour incident involving armed police on Saturday.
Officers were called to a property on Great Dover Street shortly after 2pm to reports of a disturbance.
Armed police and a negotiator were called to the scene. Some residents were evacuated from nearby properties and surrounding roads closed.
The man charged, Dennis Pettard, 45, will appear in custody at Croydon Magistrates Court today, Monday January 4.
Pettard, of Great Dover Street, is also charged with racially aggravated disorderly behaviour with intent to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Police say there were no injuries reported during the incident, and all those who were evacuated were permitted to return to their homes.
