A man from Peckham has been charged by detectives investigating the murder of a pregnant woman whose baby also died days after being delivered at the crime scene.
Aaron McKenzie, aged 25, from Peckham Park Road, was charged yesterday (Sunday, July 14) with the murder of 26-year-old Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, and the manslaughter of her baby son Riley.
Kelly, who was eight months pregnant, was found suffering from stab injuries at home in Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath, at 3.30am on Saturday, June 29.
She died before she could be taken to hospital. Although her baby was delivered at the scene, he only survived for five days, passing away at 3.10am on Wednesday, July 3.
McKenzie, who has also been charged with one count of possession of an offensive weapon, was due to appear at Camberwell Magistrates’ Court at 10am this morning (Monday, July 15).
Two other men have also been arrested on suspicion of murder; a 37-year-old who has been released without charge, and a 29-year-old bailed until August.
A JustGiving page raising funds to cover the cost of their funerals has raised more than £5,000, with the organisers pledging to donate any remaining money to anti-knife crime causes.
One tribute read: “Kelly Mary did some work experience in our office about five, six years ago. A bright girl who we thought would go far. My thoughts are with her family and friends.”
