A man was stabbed in Burgess Park on Saturday night in a week of violence that saw a teenager knifed in Brockwell Park and five men shot across London within hours of each other.

Officers and paramedics were called to Burgess Park at 10.30pm on Saturday, August 1, after reports of a stabbing.

The victim, age currently unknown, was hospitalised.  In an update from today the Met confirmed his condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life changing.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and was taken to a south London police station.

The News is now awaiting further updates on whether he has been charged or released.

Earlier on Saturday residents had also reported large groups gathering in Burgess Park and continuous anti-social mass raves that have made residents’ lives a misery over the last few months.

The News is working to establish whether the attack is connected to the unlicensed events.

Violent crime has risen across the borough since the end of lockdown with a spate of stabbings including murders in Kennington and West Dulwich.

On Thursday afternoon a teenager survived being stabbed in Brockwell Park near Tulse Hill and, in the early hours of Saturday morning, five people were gunned down across the city: two in Brixton, two in Hackney, and one in Croydon.
