Food hampers were delivered to Southwark pensioners on Christmas Eve with help from the Mayor of Southwark.
Cllr Barrie Hargrove was on hand to ensure the parcels were given the members of Southwark Pensioners Centre, based in Camberwell, on Christmas Eve.
All of those to receive hampers are unable to shop for themselves and facing Christmas alone.
“Many of our older residents have been in lockdown since March,” Cllr Hargrove told the News.
“I am privileged to bring some Christmas cheer to those in greatest need. I understand how loneliness and isolation can lead to poor health – both physical and mental.
“I would like to thank The Southwark Pensioners Centre for making this happen”.
