The Millwall Community Trust launched a new sports and construction trainee scheme for teenagers last week.
Seven new trainees were presented with their Millwall shirts before beginning the course, which involves a mixture of academic and practical training through work placements.
The free 12 week programme is aimed at 16 -18 year olds who are not currently in work or education.
The course aims to prepare them for a careers in either construction or sport’s coaching.
Sports trainees have the opportunity to go on to the Academy to gain a full coaching qualification.
Joe McGlynn, 16, who is on the sport trainee scheme, said: “I’ve been a Millwall supporter since I was young and I thought it would be a great opportunity to train to be a coach, as well as improve my skills and confidence.”
