A murder investigation has been launched after an elderly man was found dead in Bermondsey after ‘sustaining a head injury’.
Officers were called to the home in Jamaica Road on Wednesday (May 12) at 11.55am to reports of an unresponsive man.
Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the 78-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem held yesterday (Thursday, May 13) established the cause of death as a head injury.
Police say they believe they know the victim’s identity and “enquiries continue to inform next of kin” before formal identification in due course.
No arrests have been made as part of the investigation, with officers urging anyone with information to call the Met’s incident room on 020 8721 4005, call 101 or tweet @Metcc.
There have been no arrests; enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
