A murder investigation has been launched after a baby girl was found unresponsive and later died at an SE16 address.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are investigating the death of the eight-week-old baby girl at the residential property in April.
Police say the infant was found unresponsive on Friday, April 26 this year, and ambulance and police were called to the unidentified property.
Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10.15am.
On May 3, police arrested a man, 24, and a woman, 21, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a post-mortem scan revealed a “number of broken bones.”
Police say an initial post-mortem was inconclusive, but following further testing officers arrested the pair on suspicion of murder.
They have both been released on bail to a date in mid-October, said Scotland Yard.
Officers led by Detective Chief Inspector John Massey are continuing to investigate.
The baby girl’s next-of-kin have also been made aware.
