Southwark Council is consulting on plans to build an eight storey block of flats where a petrol station currently stands in the Old Kent Road.

The mixture of private and council properties, which would be built at the corner of Penry Street, would replace the Total and Jet petrol stations currently used as a car wash.

The 36 new homes would form part of Southwark’s pledge to build 11,000 new council homes over the next 30 years.

A consultation event will be held on Friday January 29 and the draft exhibition panels are available to view on the council’s website.

If the Southwark Regeneration in Partnership Programme plans are given the green light, the block will be built by a private developer working in partnership with the council.
