Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS trust has appointed a new chief nurse for the first time in more than a decade, writes Kit Heren…
Avey Bhatia is set to replace Dame Eileen Sills after around 15 years as chief nurse at the south London trust, which includes Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals, as well as Evelina children’s hospital.
Ms Bhatia joins from St George’s, where she helped lead the trust’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ian Abbs, chief executive of Guy’s and St Thomas’, says: “I am delighted to welcome Avey as the new Chief Nurse at Guy’s and St Thomas’. She was the outstanding candidate in a very strong field.
“Her significant depth and breadth of experience, new perspectives, and proven commitment to patients and staff will make her a valuable addition to our leadership team.”
