Notre Dame Roman Catholic Girls’ School has been praised by the government’s schools’ standards minister for the high level of progress made by its pupils and GCSE language uptake.

The St George’s Road school was commended by Nick Gibb MP after achieving a progress eight score of 0.6, which puts the school in the top ten per cent of state schools for progress made between key stages two and four.

The letter went on to say: “With 98 per cent of your pupils entered for a language GCSE in 2018, your school is in the top two percent of all state-funded secondary schools in the country.

“Your school’s language GCSE entries means you are providing pupils with a firm foundation in linguistic knowledge, as well as broadening their horizons and enabling them to embark on further study.”
