Corporate food delivery company City Pantry has set up a ‘feed your community’ initiative to help frontline workers and at-risk groups during the COVID-19 crisis.
The London Bridge-based company usually provides lunches for offices across the city, but during the lockdown clients can choose to donate their recurring lunch to shelters, care homes and NHS staff.
Working with the NHS and City Harvest, more than 1,500 meals were sent out in the first three weeks.
Meals are going to eleven hospitals in London including St Thomas’ and Evelina Children’s Hospital and the newly opened NHS Nightingale at the ExCel.
City Pantry managing director, Ben Carter, said: “During these difficult times and with social distancing making it challenging for some groups to access the food they need, it is so important that we all support those most vulnerable and those working tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy.
“The least that we can do is leverage our network to help make this happen. It is so great to see our restaurant partners and our people galvanise together to help with the national effort and help defeat this awful disease.”
