Camberwell will hold a multi-day street party to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, it has been announced.
The festivities will begin on Thursday 2 June and continue over the weekend until the 5th.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the social cohesion and diversity within Southwark,” said event organiser Steven Robins.
“It is a celebration of who we are,” he added.
The four-day event, which aims to bring people together from all over the world, will take place in Dalwood Street, SE5 7DU.
“We should celebrate our head of state, our commonwealth, our Queen,” said Steven. “She has given us admirable service.”
There will be fixtures throughout the Jubilee weekend, with bouncy castles, bands, a choir and food from all over the commonwealth, including rice and peas.

Local councillors, the MP for Peckham and Camberwell Harriet Harman and London Mayor have been invited to the event.
“It is also important to bring the youngsters together,” said Robins who believed the event would be a testament to the social understanding within the borough. “We are trying to address some of the issues faced by young people in the area by showing them some social cohesion.”
“I hope to see you there,” he added.
