A mental health volunteer who jumped out of a plane to raise funds for a BAME peer support scheme has presented a cheque for £1,373.30 to the Maudsley Charity.
Sandra Johnson was delighted to hand over the funds from her sponsored skydive in September after the “phenomenal” jump.
The volunteer gives her time to help Peckham Befrienders, an initiative that gives peer support to people from BAME backgrounds experiencing mental health difficulties.
Sandra draws on her experience of mental health problems, including time detained in the Maudsley Hospital ten years ago, to help others.
