Peckham primary school pupils were given a breath of country air as they travelled to the Lee Valley Regional Park in Essex.
The Year 5 class from Harris Primary Academy were welcomed into the wilderness to take part in the park’s Cunning Running activity day, on April 5.
On arrival at the picturesque Waltham Abbey Gardens in Essex, the group were tasked to scout out nine specific points on a map of the park, using just a compass, and whilst running against the clock. Split into small teams of six, the pupils ventured into the historic gardens and the vast Cornmill Meadows, a vibrant grassland intersected by rivers and streams and thriving with wildlife.
The trip was paid for by the Regional Park Authority’s Community Access Fund, created to encourage schools and community groups from London to visit.
