Thirty new trees were planted in the grounds of the Penrose Estate this month.
The saplings were donated by the Woodland Trust, which gives free trees to community groups to help the fight against climate change and increase biodiversity.
The Walworth estate’s resident garden club received advice from an arboriculture specialist from Southwark Council on the best places to plant and how to care for the new Hazel, Silver Birch, Crab Apple, Dogwood and Wild Cherry trees.
The Woodland Trust’s latest round of the free tree scheme opened last week. If you are part of a community group keen to get planting, visit woodlandtrust.org.uk/
