Safer neighbourhood team warns of a “significant rise” of moped-riding thieves snatching phones

Police have circulated a warning to mobile phone users after an increase of robberies in the north of the borough.

The notice, which was issued by Grange ward’s safer neighbourhood team, warns of a “significant rise” of moped-riding thieves snatching phones.

The crooks even mount pavements on their bikes, according to the police, riding up behind victims before making a speedy getaway.

The police urged residents: “Stay alert to your surroundings. Don’t get lost in the phone. Keep calls brief as possible. Don’t advertise your phone when not using.”

Diana Taylor says:

And buy a blutooth headset… No phone visible, no phone to steal…
