Police have circulated a warning to mobile phone users after an increase of robberies in the north of the borough.
The notice, which was issued by Grange ward’s safer neighbourhood team, warns of a “significant rise” of moped-riding thieves snatching phones.
The crooks even mount pavements on their bikes, according to the police, riding up behind victims before making a speedy getaway.
The police urged residents: “Stay alert to your surroundings. Don’t get lost in the phone. Keep calls brief as possible. Don’t advertise your phone when not using.”
Several snatch attempts by suspects on mopeds in SE1 area today.
Please be aware of your surroundings. #Bermondsey #Borough #SE1 #mobile
