In a press release issued today, the school said: “Staff have gone above and beyond throughout the process, and families have demonstrated enormous resilience to support their children’s education through a very challenging time.”

One star performer is Juliette Agyeman, who is going to read History at Pembroke College, Cambridge after achieving three A*s and a bursary to support her study.

“I’m so happy my hard work paid off,” she said. “I listened to my teachers and went to them whenever I needed help; they were happy to support.”

Two others to achieve three A*s are Selina Chenh and Jhuliana Castro. They are both going to the University of Bristol to study psychology.

Jhuliana said: “The feeling of anxiety has been replaced by excitement.

“I could not be more thankful for the journey I have been on; Walworth Academy has been great at supporting me.”

Mohammed Maruf Chowdury, who achieved three A grades, will be going to King’s College London to study International Development.

The school says it has also seen ‘exceptional results’ from the vocational side.

Also from the academy’s applied science course, Natasha Wabulo will go on to study biomedical science at Middlesex University, having achieved one distinction* and two further distinctions.

“Words aren’t enough to describe how happy I feel,” she said upon opening her results envelope.
