Southwark’s primary school admissions went ahead as usual on Thursday, with every family who applied receiving an offer for this autumn.
Almost all – 98 per cent – received offers for their preferred schools. Cllr Jasmine Ali, cabinet member for children, schools and adult care at Southwark Council said: “I am so pleased to confirm that despite the current challenges we are facing as a nation our primary admissions process has been completed and today, we are able, to inform families of the reception places for their children this September.
“We’re delighted to announce that 100 per cent of Southwark families who applied for a primary school place this autumn, have been offered one. With 98%, that’s 2,923 families, securing a place in a school of their preference.
“We commend parents for getting their applications in on time and schools for helping to manage this so well.
“We also hope very much that the children will be excited, ready and able to start in September.”
