Children from Southwark Park Primary School visited the Houses of Parliament on April 18, after they were invited by the MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, Neil Coyle, writes Alex Yeates…
The children enjoyed full access to the palace and were later joined by Neil for a picture and questions.
Neil said: “Today, Southwark Park Primary School visited Parliament – they had a full tour, seeing both the Commons and the Lords, and then I met them in Westminster Hall.
“They asked me lots of questions – about why I wanted to be an MP, about academies and university fees, the daily routine as an MP and what they could do to help the environment.
“It was great to see the students here and I would like more local schools to cross the river and visit Parliament.”
Westminster is open to school visits and is able to pay some travel costs.
