Southwark police have launched a rape investigation after a woman was assaulted in a Walworth churchyard in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police say the victim is believed to have been attacked in the grounds of St Peter’s Church in Liverpool Grove at around 3am on Saturday, October 10.
She sought help at a nearby house – with the occupants phoning police at around 4.10am.
Officers are now calling on anyone in the area who saw or heard anything that could help their investigation to get in touch.
Detective Constable Jake Good, said: “This was clearly a very serious incident and we are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify the person responsible.
“I would ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at around that time to please come forward.
“Any detail – no matter how small – could assist with our investigation.”
