To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the Mayor of Southwark is holding a ceremony which will also give people a chance to remember include other genocides.
The joint commemorative ceremony to remember will take place tomorrow (Thursday 27 January) at Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, SE1, next to the Imperial War Museum from 10.45 am.
January 27th marks the day in 1945 when the Auschwitz/Birkenau concentration camp was liberated from the Nazis.
People are encouraged to come together to remember the Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
At 11 am there will be wreath-laying at the Soviet War Memorial and Holocaust Memorial Tree.
Inside the Imperial War Museum, a few minutes walk from the memorial tree, the Holocaust Galleries are open to the public. Through photos, books, artworks, letters and personal items, The Holocaust Galleries tells the individual stories of some of the six million Jewish people who died during the Holocaust. The exhibition is permanent and free for visitors to the museum.

The Holocaust Memorial Trust also encourage households across the UK to light a candle at 8 pm in remembrance.
