A small puppy called Minnie was saved by police in Bermondsey on Wednesday and taken to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

The young Jack Russell Terrier was rushed to into their Veterinary Hospital after being saved from St James Road, where she received urgent care.

Police officers shared their find on social media shortly afterwards: “Different style of policing today. An abandoned puppy was found in St James Road, SE1.

“Police took the dog to the vets and then onto a dogs home.”

A Battersea Dogs and Cats Home spokesperson said: “A four to five week old Jack Russell Terrier puppy was brought into Battersea thanks to the Metropolitan Police and she was rushed into our Veterinary Hospital as she’s in a very bad way.

“Our Vet nurses have named her Minnie but as she’s a stray we don’t know her background.

“Our clinic team are giving her constant care and attention. Battersea exists to help poor puppies like Minnie and in the next few days we will find out the full extent of her medical problems.”
