A Level Results Day 2019: ‘Record haul of top grades’ for Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart Catholic School in Camberwell’s students and teachers are celebrating its highest ever number of A*-A grades today.

All 75 pupils in Year 13 sat a Level exams, with a third of entries gaining A*-A grades.

Nine in ten results were A*-C, with an fifteen per cent of the entire year group getting straight A* or As.

The stunning results mean that the vast majority of students – 91 per cent – will be able to go to their first or second choice for further education, with pupils now preparing for the next chapter at Universities including UCL, Bristol, Warwick, Birmingham, Leeds, The Royal College of Drawing and New York.

Headteacher Mr Serge Cefai said: “Whilst our education system continues to be in a state of flux, I am pleased that once again Sacred Heart school has maintained its very high standards, with record numbers of top grades.

“Congratulations to all pupils and staff for their hard work.”

Subjects where pupils did particularly well include Art, Business Studies, English Literature, Further Maths and Physics where more than 80 per cent achieved A*-B grades.

Top performers Deborah Agboola; Edem Akromah; Bisola Alowonle; Sharon Amukamara; Memunat Bakare; Sabrina Belaziz; Tracey Chimbo; Paul Majek-Oduyoye; Oghemetega Natufe; Isabel Solarte; Tianlong Zhong were all celebrating gaining three or more A*-A grades in their A Levels.
