An amended application has been submitted for flats on a former Rotherhithe pub which was controversially approved by council officers.
Residents previously launched a legal challenge at their own time and expense against proposals for six flats on the site of the Clipper pub in Rotherhithe Street. Four hundred residents had also signed a petition against the ‘eye-sore’ proposals.
In June, three campaigners won a successful High Court legal bid against the officer-approved plans as it did not properly consider density – meaning council authorities had to pay their costs.
Now amended plans have been submitted for the site, including a reduction in height and the removal of a back extension.
However, campaigners have alleged the amended design of the building would still be “out of character with the surrounding area” and would “drastically damage the visual amenity of the local area.”

The front perspective of the revised scheme
After their legal bid, the plans must now be considered by a committee of councillors.
Consultation has opened on the plans, which can be found under the reference ‘18/AP/3420’.
The deadline for comment is Thursday October 3.
A date has not yet been set for the plans to be heard.
The developer, Designer London Developments Ltd, have been contacted for comment.
Details of the amended plans can be found here on the Council’s planning portal.
