Students at Bacon’s College were joined by children from four other schools in a special dance event this week.
The Rotherhithe school hosted a Step Around Town event, a programme organised by the Royal Academy of Dance and the Jack Petchey Foundation to get children interested in dancing who might not otherwise take part.
The programme will eventually bring together more than 400 dancers from 40 groups in seven London boroughs.
Dance students at Bacon’s gave a special performance as part of the evening event at their school.
Speaking after the event, Mrs Dryden, head of dance at Bacon’s, said it was “absolutely wonderful” to host the event. “I think the dance tonight was absolutely amazing, such a wonderful array from contemporary to street dance and freestyle. It’s been a really enjoyable evening.”
Gerard Charles, artistic director at the Royal Academy of Dance said: “The Step Around Town events are a fantastic opportunity for students to come together to celebrate with each other, and to experience performing for an audience. It is always inspiring to see the positive results of their work and the diversity of their performances.”
