The Rotherhithe Festival is going ahead this Saturday, August 7, with live bands, children’s rides and stalls.
The festival is taking place on King George’s Field off Lower Road, with the entrance on Moodkee Street. The event will run from 11.30am-8pm on Saturday, with Southwark Mayor Cllr Barrie Hargrove opening the festival. Musical acts include Paul Cox, Errol Linton and Alan Glen and the Incredible Blues Puppies.
Organisers will also be bringing back the stocks this year to give festival-goers a chance to inflict medieval punishment on others, in return for a donation to charity.
The organisers of the event have dedicated the Rotherhithe Festival to NHS staff and others who have worked “tirelessly” during the Covid-19 lockdown. They have asked everyone who comes to the event to wear blue in celebration of healthcare workers.
