Rotherhithe’s bookworms are turning pages at an incredible rate, with Canada Water Library named the second-busiest library in London for the second consecutive year.
The library loaned out 346,640 books during 2014/2015, a record only beaten by one other facility in the capital.
Councillor Ian Wingfield, Southwark Council cabinet member for business, employment and culture said: “Southwark remains committed to keeping its libraries open despite rising local authority cuts, and as we continue to celebrate the success of our newest library in Camberwell, which this week hosted the successful launch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, statistics like these are a fantastic boost.”
