Sadiq Khan has urged Londoners to get their coronavirus vaccinations after he received his first jab on Friday, writes Simon Throssell…
The Mayor of London, who has severe asthma, was vaccinated with his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Mitcham Lane Baptist Church in southwest London.
Describing his vaccination experience, Mr Khan said: “I’m relieved and very grateful.”
Love that as a Mayor of Islamic faith, I received my COVID vaccine at a local church, from Reverend Dr Sue Clarke, who came out of retirement to volunteer as a vaccinator.

The Mayor’s vaccine was delivered by The Revd Dr Sue Clarke, a former hospital consultant who came out of retirement to volunteer as a vaccinator.
Praising the work of volunteers and vaccine centres, Mr Khan said: “These vaccines are a testament to the hard work of scientists around the world and we owe them, and the NHS staff and volunteers who are helping to deliver the jabs, a great deal of thanks.”
As of last week, people aged 65 and over and those aged 16 to 64 with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk are being invited to take the vaccine.
Mr Khan continued: “The widespread rollout of these vaccines will protect us from serious illness, will help us all to get back to the things we have missed and let us see the people we love.
“It’s fantastic that more than 1.5m Londoners have already received their first dose and I again urge all Londoners to have the vaccine as soon as you are offered it.
“It is safe and it will save lives.”
So basically hes jumped the queue . What an example to set . If you have a job with power you get the vaccine before millions of others the same age
