Pupils from six Southwark schools helped raise nearly £400 for charity on July 7, as they sold their own-grown fruit and vegetables at Borough Market.

Children from Charlotte Sharman Primary School, John Ruskin Primary School, Snowfields Primary School, St George’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School, St Jude’s Church of England Primary School and Redriff Primary School helped raise £395.14 for Fare Share, a food charity.

Six other schools from across London also helped raise the funds, which will go toward providing 1,580 meals for vulnerable families.

The summer sale was part of partnership between Borough Market and School Food Matters, a charity for ensuring children eat well.

The programme started in spring with the help of funding from United St Saviour’s Charity, where pupils were taught how to grow food by Blue Peter gardener, Chris Collins.
