A motorcyclist was left in a life-threatening condition after an early morning collision on Sunday in Southwark Street.

Police were called to the collision involving the bike at around 3.20am yesterday morning, and the rider was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment.

The 27-year-old was in a life-threatening condition, said police yesterday.

Officers had initially thought his bike had been in collision with a car that had failed to stop at the scene – but after enquiries throughout the day, the car was confirmed not to have been involved.

Enquiries are still ongoing to find direct witnesses to the collision.

Police are asking for anyone with images, dash cam footage, or information regarding the moments leading up to the collision, to call 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting reference Cad 1221/09Feb.

There have been no arrests, adds the police statement.
