A man robbed a Tesco Express in SE16’s Plough Way this morning with a suspected shotgun.
Police are currently on-site at the Marine Wharf Tesco Express after this morning’s armed raid, and were called to the scene at around 6.45am.
The shop remains closed while police investigate.
A man is thought to have entered the shop with a suspected shotgun, and demanded cash and cigarettes from shop staff in the early morning robbery.
Following a ‘brief’ struggle with one of the shop staff, he fled the scene with cash, Scotland Yard said.
Nobody was seriously injured, and no shots were fired.
“Officers from South East Command Unit investigate,” said a Met spokeswoman.
“There have been no arrests at this early stage.”
Police inquiries continue. Tesco has been contacted for further comment.
