What’s thought to be the country’s first chocolate kebab has been created in a new Bermondsey ice cream parlour, and was unveiled last week by a familiar-looking celebrity chef, writes Frances Berry…
The skewered rotating cylinder of white and milk chocolate, which is shaved, just like a usual doner kebab, but then put into pancakes, was demonstrated by Gordon Ramsay lookalike Martin Jordan, who also served customers.
The parlour, Flavours, opened in Jamaica Road last Friday.
Kim Dunn, a local resident, said: “It’s amazing. There’s nothing else like it, it’s something different.”
Simi Shanker, joint owner of the parlour, said: “It’s really exciting, we’ve just looked into something that would really attract people, young and the old, and I don’t think anybody does a chocolate kebab here. We wanted to be slightly different.”
