The Africa Centre had its 2017 summer festival on Saturday (August 19) bringing together music, art, food and fashion from Africa and the Diaspora, writes Zahid Mahmood.
This immersive event of African and black British culture, held in Great Suffolk Street, featured new young voices from the region alongside art installations and exhibitions showing diverse artists with an African heritage.
The Black British Music Stage was hosted by African Boy, who set his own style to give a platform to home-grown and emerging musical talent.
In an exciting twist to this year, the festival brought visual art with special installations from Sokari Douglas Camp and a commissioned a pop-up cinema and bar by designer Yinka Hori.
