Southwark Park has been cordoned off after a man suffered a head wound in what police believe was a hammer attack.
Officers were called to Surrey Quays Station, in Lower Road, Rotherhithe, at about 7.45am today following reports of a man suffering a head wound.
Police believe the man, thought to be in his 40s, was attacked by another man with a hammer in Southwark Park.
He was taken to a south London hospital to be treated but updates on his condition is not yet known.
Officers from the British Transport Police also attended, along with London Ambulance Service.
A spokesman for the Met Police told the News: “It is believed that the victim was attacked by another man with a hammer by Southwark Park.
“A crime scene remains in place.
“There were no arrests; enquiries continue.”
