The top cop for Southwark and Lambeth, is leaving his post this month to take up a new position in the Met.
The News understands Simon Messinger’s last day is this Friday.
Messinger has been borough commander for Southwark since 2016 and both Southwark and Lambeth since 2018’s merger.
At fifteen he completed work experience at Peckham Police Station and never looked back, gaining experience as a Detective Sargeant in the borough until 2005.
Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove will be taking over the role.
His most recent job has been heading up the force’s Roads and Transport Command.
