The ongoing rash of robberies by moped riders took another turn this week after four incidents were reported in one day.
Local police confirmed to the News that three robberies took place around Dulwich on Monday. The first two took place near Lordship Lane and another by East Dulwich Station.
Another incident were later reported in Bromley and Crystal Palace, which police believe could be linked.
A police spokesman said: “There were a number of offences yesterday where suspects on mopeds stole mobile phones. At this stage it appears that some of them are linked, however we believe there are a number of people committing these offences.
“Southwark police are working with the other affected boroughs and specialist units, including Lambeth borough and Road and Transport Policing Command, to prevent and investigate these offences.
“Southwark Police are deploying a number of tactics, including high-visibility patrols, actively targeting people known to commit this type of crime, as well as a number of covert policing options to catch those involved.”
The News reported on March 17 that police were warning residents about a previous spate of thefts by suspects riding mopeds.
Police are advising residents to “stay alert”, “keep calls brief” and not to “advertise” your phone to thieves.
