A ‘Splash Mob’ community picnic was held at the site of the former, and potentially future, Peckham Lido site on Sunday.
Just short of 100 locals turned up to enjoy the weekend sun and chill out in their trunks – all in the name of helping the Peckham Lido crowdfunding campaign.
Chris Romer-Lee, whose company organised the big picnic, said the aim was also to get a big group photo recreating a 1920s black and white photo of swimmers taken at the old lido site.
The photo, provided by a former Peckham resident, John Ellis, is believed to have been taken in 1928. John, who was born in Peckham in 1950 and left the area in 1973, wrote to Chris to say his dad and an uncle were in the picture.
