Trees were felled across the borough as Storm Aileen battered the UK last night.
Lana Preston was out walking her dog early this morning when she had a near miss with a tree as it split in half near Marden Square, on the Four Squares Estate in Bermondsey.
And huge trees were spotted strewn across entire footpaths on the Old Kent Road and in Rotherhithe, blocking the way of pedestrians.
Motorists were urged to take extra care when travelling to work during the morning rush hour yesterday in the first storm this year big enough to be named.
Drivers were warned to delay travelling if the weather became too severe and to take extra care in high-sided vehicles.
