Peckham Town FC want to install new floodlights on its ground, and are asking fans to back their planning application before its deadline on June 1.
Bryan Hall, Chairman of Peckham Town FC, told the News: “We’ve missed out on promotion on four separate occasions in recent seasons due to lack of floodlights.
“We really want to move up the non-league system now to keep our first team players motivated. I really hope the local community can back our plans for this modest addition. Please write in support to the council by June 1. We don’t want to to be forced to miss out on promotion again next season. Let there be light!”
Club supporter, Duncan Hart, said “The community work that the club has done, led by Bryan, over the years has been exceptional. Over 2000 children from Southwark estates have been given opportunities to play football and shine.
“The club has also raised money for charity, such as the drought in East Africa in 2017, by playing a friendly against Somaliland.
“The modest addition of floodlights is essential to allow the first men and women’s teams to progress up the non-league system. It’s the very least the club deserves.”
