The company that runs Surrey Quays shopping centre has apologised and said anyone who has been fined wrongly can get the ticket cancelled there and then.
The News has reported on several occasions when people appear to have been fined because the system thought they had spent hours in the car park, when actually they had been there for two short visits in a 24-hour period. The problem seems to have been even more widespread and has gone on for years, if comments made online are to be believed.
Now British Land, which owns Surrey Quays shopping centre, has said anyone who thinks they have been wrongly fined should report the problem direct to the management office in the centre, rather than through a lengthy appeal to CP Plus/Nexus, the company that runs the car park for them.

A spokesperson for the shopping centre said: “We are really sorry for any issues our customers have had. We have now changed our process, should someone be awarded a fine in error.
“Anyone who wrongly receives a fine can report this to us at the Shopping Centre Management Office removing the need to go through the CP Plus appeal process. If it is clear that a mistake was made, we will cancel the ticket there and then.”
