A Rotherhithe man has received a suspended jail sentence after pleading guilty to the theft of £76.26 worth of painkillers from a pharmacy.
Anthony Slack, of Neptune Street, was caught attempting to steal from Boots pharmacy at Surrey Quays.
He was discovered attempting to walk out of the shop door with packets of Nurofen in his jacket pocket that he did not pay for.
His defence solicitor said: “He has a very long criminal history due to his drug problem, which has lasted over twenty years.”
Slack, 51, received a four-week jail sentence, which will be suspended for six months.
He was also ordered to pay £80 worth of costs.
