A pensioner from Sydenham accused of helping to supply fraudulent passports has been charged after a National Crime Agency investigation.

Sixty-six-year-old Christopher McCormack, also known as Christopher Zietek appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 12, charged with one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice, two counts of conspiracy to make a false instrument, and one count of money laundering.

The OAP from Collingtree Road was arrested on Monday after a series of dawn raids across London and Kent.

Nine others were arrested the same day on suspicion of involvement in an alleged fake passport racket, including a man from Union Street, Borough. Three have since been released under investigation and six were bailed.

Another fourteen people, aged between 38 and 73, suspected of receiving the passports, or assisting the suspected crime group through countersigning documents they knew to be fraudulent, were also arrested by National Crime Agency officers Kent, Essex and Merseyside.  All have been released under investigation.
