A teenage boy and a woman have died days after a fire at in Lewisham, which investigators believe was started deliberately.
The blaze, in Russett Way, Lewisham, on Saturday morning (March 6) had already killed a five-year-old boy, with all three from the same family.
Tributes have been placed at the scene and police said they are not looking for anyone else, ruling out any third party involvement.
Today (Thursday, March 11) Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith, said: “This was a truly awful incident and we are doing everything we can to support the family’s next of kin.
“We have been working alongside specialist investigators to establish the cause of the fire and it saddens me to say that we believe it was started deliberately, inside the address, by one of those inside.
“While I accept we may never know the circumstances, I am still very keen to hear from anybody who has information that could shed any light of this tragic incident.”
The 14-year-old died boy yesterday, while the woman, 34, passed away today.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus were able to pull all three occupants from the blaze in the top floor split-level maisonette and they were taken to hospital via ambulance.
The youngest child died around 8am on Saturday.
Six fire engines and 40 firefighters were deployed to the block during the incident.
London Fire Brigade was called at 5.44am and the fire was under control within an hour later.
