A brand new three day festival to celebrate arts, culture, diversity and talent is coming to Elephant and Castle this July, writes Jack Friend…
Visitors will be able to enjoy street theatre, circus, dance and art with local community art groups also running workshops.
The Urban Elephant festival is set to take place from Friday July 29th to Sunday July 31st and entry is free to anyone who is interested in attending.
On the first day, at Castle Square children will be able to take part in art workshops put on by local community groups. If music is more your thing than you will not be disappointed, as guests will also be able to enjoy latin America music alongside a DJ which will run until the evening. Guests will also be able to enjoy dance programme Serenata Latina.
There will be a host of activities across different locations in Elephant and Castle on the Saturday and Sunday. Festival goers will be able to enjoy live music and will get to grips with dance with performances from a whole range of different genres including Urban, African, Latino, and tap dancing.
The event has been organised by two local creatives John Whelan, who is known for delivering theatre and community arts projects across London and Liverpool and Mike Raffone, who is an experienced street performer.
