A south London drug dealer has been jailed after police officers found heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis and cash on him at his home in Brixton.
Police said Michael Richards, 22, was a known gang member. He found with the drugs – worth about £1,000 – and the money at his home on Saxby Road in November 2021.
Richards was charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – cocaine, possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – heroin, and possession a controlled drug of class B – cannabis/cannabis resin.
He was jailed for three years last Thursday (January 6). The arrest was carried out by the Met’s violence crime task force (VCTF).
Inspector Dan Thompson, who leads a south London branch of the violent crime task force, said: “The distribution of drugs fuels violence and the associated criminality that accompanies it causes misery to local communities.
“This is a great example of how the VCTF are tasked to an area and can really focus on those individuals who are driving up violence on our streets and in our communities through the supply of drugs…
“We are absolutely committed to driving down violent crime and we will relentlessly focus on those individuals intent on causing violence.’’
